Nature and Nourishment
About Stephanie
Hi! I’m Stephanie, Owner of Southern Garden Solutions.
I help homeowners in Upstate South Carolina plan edible gardens and ecological landscapes — often early in the process, before planting, construction, or layout decisions become expensive to change.
Projects range from kitchen gardens and raised beds to integrated, whole-property designs, and the goal remains the same: landscapes that produce food, support the surrounding ecosystem, and become easier to care for over time — not more demanding to maintain.
A systems-based approach to gardens and landscapes
Many clients come to me after years of trial and error: plants that didn’t thrive, gardens that required constant input, or big ideas that never quite came together.
I approach gardens as integrated systems, not isolated projects. Early decisions about layout, placement, and sequencing shape everything that follows. The process begins with understanding how the land functions before installation. That means considering food production, native and ecological planting, soil health, water use, site conditions, and long-term maintenance from the start — whether we’re working on a single kitchen garden or an entire property.
Projects often begin with edible gardens or raised beds and naturally evolve into broader landscape planning as clients see how food, ecology, and design work together.
Grounded in horticulture, guided by experience
Southern Garden Solutions works with homeowners throughout Greenville, Spartanburg, Greer, Taylors, Travelers Rest, and surrounding Upstate South Carolina communities.
My work is grounded in formal academic training in horticulture, with additional study in sustainable agriculture and permaculture systems.
Just as important, my work is shaped by years of professional practice running a garden and landscape business —working with real sites, real constraints, and real homeowners throughout Greenville, Spartanburg, Greer, Taylors, Travelers Rest and surrounding areas of Upstate South Carolina — the region where I was born and raised, and where my work remains grounded.
Many projects start as garden questions but naturally involve larger property decisions, where early planning prevents costly revisions later.
I’m not interested in one-size-fits-all solutions or trends that look good on paper but fail in practice. My goal is to help clients make informed, confident decisions — ones that respect their time, budget, and long-term goals.
How clients work with me
Projects usually start with clarity, then move into the level of support that makes sense.
Clients work with me in different ways depending on their needs, scope, and how involved they want to be.
Land and property planning for early layout and site decisions
Consulting for garden-scale planning, site evaluation, and long-term strategy
Design for edible gardens, kitchen gardens, and ecological landscapes
Installation support for projects that benefit from hands-on execution
Coaching for homeowners who want expert guidance and decision support
The common thread is clarity: thoughtful planning, realistic expectations, and designs that are meant to last.
Training & Credentials
I hold a degree in horticulture, and my work is grounded in formal academic training in plant systems, soil health, and long-term landscape performance.
I work at the intersection of edible landscapes, ecological design, and practical garden management—balancing science, observation, and real-world conditions to support landscapes that mature well over time.
